The clatter of knifes and forks started to diminish and before the animated conversation took hold again Vic White, secretary, asked the assembled members to stand for a minutes silence for Lee Richardson. Vic then announced that the proceeds from the Buffet and the Raffle would be presented to Lee’s family.
Those with Vic and within reach of the mic, Bert Harkins, Pete Sampson, our president Colin Pratt indulged in a little banter between themselves and the gathered group of members during which Vic, who was shortly to be celebrating his 80th birthday, was presented with a Paradise Bear and Colin was invited to feed the Tiger.
Some then made their way outside, eager to see Colin’s “ordeal” by tiger other stayed where they were and, yes, you have guessed it, chatted some more. Many photos taken (some on view here) much delicious food eaten, loads of stories told and I imagine the world put to rights a few times before the gathering broke up and the members started to make their way home.
