Ipswich Speedway Programmes 1951 & 1953

Foxhall Heath Stadium has been host to Ipswich Witches since 1950 with one or two sort breaks.

Opened in October of 1950 with a Mini meeting and practice (we would today call it a press day I suppose) continuing the following year staging some open meeting - delays in building permits meant that the stadium was not available to stage League meeting until 1952 when they joined the Southern League.

Below is the programme from what should have been the first ‘proper’ meeting at the new venue it was planned for the 24 March 1951, a Challenge Match not with Ipswich riders but Norwich v Southampton, but it never actually took place as the meeting was rained off and the first full meeting took place on the 14 May 1951 and that was Ipswich v Yarmouth.
