Marvyn Cox born on the 11th July 1964 in Whitstable, Kent, is now manager of Västervik speedway team in Sweden. For some strange reason it seems more difficult to find details of those riders who are still involved in the sport of speedway than it is for those who were born at the turn of the century or were riding in 1929.

I will try, Marvyn was first seen Riding at Rye House for the Rockets so it is likely that he was one of the riders emerging from the training school but I have no conformation of this.

1981 and 1983 he rode mainly for Rye House Rockets and just 4 or 5 meetings for Hackney Hawks, it would seem he was contracted to Rye House and rode, possibly on load, for Hackney on occasion during these years but as both tracks were promoted by Len Silver it was not really a loan but more of a domestic matter.

Anyway back to Marvyn’s speedway career he next rode for Oxford Cheaters moving there in 1984 and it would seem remaining until 1989 although the last season seemed short as he only rode 28 meetings for them, perhaps an injury but I am only speculating.

1990 a change of track this time joining Bradford Dukes but only for the one season as he was on the move again.

1991 saw him riding for Poole Pirates for two seasons 1991 & 1992, then not riding again in the UK until the season of 1995, when he was back riding at Reading Racers but only for a few meetings before returning to Oxford for just the one year, 1996, before moving to Poole for 1997 & part of the 1998 season and then it would seem he retired from the sport in the UK.

Marvin Cox qualified for the World Final Championship in 1986 & 1994, Won the under 21 Championship in 1984 and rode in the first two Speedway Grand Prix in 1995/96

Have not been able to confirm any of the above but if you know different then please tell me.
